In March of 2017, the Medicine Hat Concert Band Society’s (MHCBS) Allegro Band travelled to Lethbridge to perform in a joint concert with the Lethbridge Gold Band. Unfortunately, the pandemic interrupted the return portion of the home and home series. This concert is the Lethbridge Gold Band’s first opportunity to cross Highway Three to perform in Medicine Hat’s world-class Esplanade Theatre, and the MHCBS is pleased to host them for “Hands Across the Three.”  

Under the direction of Curtis Perrin (MHCBS Allegro Band) and Mark Ward (LCBS Gold Band), the program will include everything you would expect from a Sunday afternoon band concert. The concert line-up will include marches, movie music, fanfares, overtures, a little “Beatles,” and some wonderful compositions by Canadian female composers. The finale will be a tip of the bandmasters’ cap to the friendship and community of wind bands as the two bands combine for John Williams’ “The Cowboys” and Sousa’s “Hands Across the Sea.” See what we did there?
