Because of Her.

Because of Her celebrates the enduring presence and influence of women whose strength often unfolds in quiet, unrecorded ways. Rooted in memory, observation, and inherited histories, Adrianne Williams large-scale paintings resist singular narratives, instead offering open, contemplative spaces where gestures, colour, and form carry the weight of personal and collective lineage.

Across the exhibition, figures emerge with a sense of stillness and dignity, occupying space with intention. They are not portraits of specific individuals, but embodiments of lived experience—echoes of mothers, daughters, and communities shaped by care, resilience, and continuity. The layered surfaces suggest both visibility and obscurity, reflecting how the labour and love of women are at once foundational and frequently overlooked.

At its core, Because of Her is an act of recognition. It invites viewers to reflect on the women who have shaped their own lives while considering the broader structures that depend on their unseen contributions. Without prescribing meaning, the exhibition holds space for acknowledgment, gratitude, and re-seeing—affirming a truth that resonates beyond the canvas: that the strength of any community is inseparable from the women who sustain it.
