About the Artist
Robert Weissmann, originally from Toronto, ON, is a glass artist with over 40 years of experience. He began his career in the 1980s as an apprentice at Luxfer Prism Company, a historic Toronto glass manufacturer, where he developed a strong foundation in traditional stained-glass techniques. He went on to found Reflections Glassworks, taking on major commissions and restorations, including the stained-glass windows of Vancouver’s Holy Rosary Cathedral. His expertise and craftsmanship quickly earned him recognition across Canada.
Introduced to Medicine Hat through a colleague, Robert spent years travelling between Victoria and the Prairies to complete restoration work for Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, St. John’s Presbyterian Church, and St. Barnabas. After relocating to Medicine Hat permanently, he took on the personal restoration of the historic windows of St. Theresa’s Academy — some of which will be installed in the new Holy Trinity Academy opening in 2027. Today, he continues to experiment and create in his home studio, often accompanied by a cup of tea and the music of Tom Waits.
