Inside City Hall is a stunning new collection of local artwork by the Medicine Hat Photography Club. Join us for a public reception to celebrate the artists and their works on February 17 from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. in City Hall's Helen Beny Gibson Lounge.
The collection includes 44 photographs by 43 talented artists in our community. From serene views of Kin Coulee Pond by Dianne Finch, to striking images of bald eagles by Kyle Marchand, to powerful portrayals of Indigenous warriors by Terry Knodel, each piece reflects the beauty and spirit of Southeastern Alberta. The photographs capture a diverse range of subjects - landscapes, wildlife, landmarks, community members, and local festivals - celebrating Medicine Hat’s vibrant visual arts scene.
The Medicine Hat Photography Club officially incorporated into a society in 2006 but has a long history within our community. The club dates back to 1906, eventually founding a club in the 1950’s which included a focus on dark room processing. Now, fully digital, the Medicine Hat Photography Club has approximately 75 members who exhibit, plan events, field trips, as well as speakers and workshops. In 2024 the club joined the Alberta Camera Alliance to broaden connections provincially. Find out more about the Medicine hat Photography Club at https://www.medicinehatphotographyclub.com/.
Light refreshments will be served during the come-and-go reception.
