The Esplanade galleries are a place where you and your family can explore, learn and be inspired. A place where together, you can direct your own experience based on what interests you.
Our flexible self-led gallery activities offer you and your family more options to engage with the ideas inside.
Spend a little creative time together exploring a new skill and your imaginations. Who said galleries aren’t a place to get hands on?!
These activities are free of charge and available when our galleries are open. They are geared toward children 5 and up and their adult companions, as well as the young at heart if not in age! Toys and books are present for children of all ages to enjoy.
THE READING LIBRARY
The Reading Library hosts a curated collection of books for young readers to enjoy while spending time in the Discovery Zone. The collection encourages readers to explore art and community and was made possible by the Medicine Hat Library's generous support.
Come and visit the Altaglass display in the museum! Then head to the Discovery Zone for a hands-on activity where you can explore the unique qualities of glass and design your own vase. Learn about where colour in glass comes from and see if you can spot the piece of uranium glassware in the museum.
